From My Sketchbook
Every finished piece has a story behind it. There is the first idea, the sketch that changes halfway through, the color that was never part of the original plan, and the small decision that suddenly makes everything come together.
From My Sketchbook is where Angel shares those in-between moments.
This is a place for creative inspiration, behind-the-scenes stories, lessons from recent experiences, new ideas as they develop, and reflections on what it means to keep creating even when you are still figuring out what comes next.
Behind the Creative Process
Not every idea begins fully formed. Sometimes inspiration comes from a season, a conversation, a place around Charleston, a piece of glass catching the light, a flower, a memory, or a guest asking, “Could we try this?” Those sparks become sketches, samples, new class concepts, and occasionally something completely different from where the idea started.
Angel believes creativity is easier to access when it feels approachable. That is why the process matters. Learning how an idea becomes a finished experience can make creating feel less intimidating and more like something you are allowed to explore in your own way.
Ideas You Can Carry With You
You will also find encouragement for those moments when you want to create but feel stuck. Sometimes the best next step is not waiting for the perfect idea. It is choosing one color, making one line, trying one technique, or giving yourself permission to make something simply because you enjoy the process.
There is no requirement to call yourself an artist before you begin. Curiosity is enough.
What Is Coming Next
As Art With Angel grows, this space will hold class recaps, seasonal inspiration, creative tips, new project previews, stories from Angel’s World, and thoughts from the journey of building a creative community.
Whether you are here because you attended an experience, discovered the gallery, or simply needed a little inspiration today, you are welcome to look around and return whenever you need another creative spark.
Keep creating,
Love, Angel 🤍
